# Set Up Abandoned Cart Recovery (/how-to/marketing/set-up-abandoned-cart-recovery)

Abandoned Cart Recovery (ACR) automatically detects when a customer starts the booking process but leaves before completing payment. When enabled, the system sends a follow-up message encouraging them to return and finish their booking, helping you recover lost revenue.

When to Use This [#when-to-use-this]

* You notice customers adding items to their cart but not completing bookings.
* You want to automatically re-engage potential customers without manual outreach.
* You are looking to increase your booking conversion rate.

How It Works [#how-it-works]

1. A customer begins the checkout flow on your booking page and enters their contact information.
2. The customer leaves the page without completing the booking.
3. After a configured delay, the system sends an automated email or SMS reminding them about their incomplete booking.
4. The message can include a direct link back to the checkout with their selections pre-loaded.

Steps [#steps]

1\. Navigate to Abandoned Cart Settings [#1-navigate-to-abandoned-cart-settings]

In the dashboard, go to **Marketing > Abandoned Cart Recovery**.

2\. Enable the Feature [#2-enable-the-feature]

Toggle the **Enabled** switch to on. When the switch is green, abandoned cart recovery is active for your location.

3\. Save Your Settings [#3-save-your-settings]

Click the **Save** button at the bottom of the page to apply the change.

What Happens Behind the Scenes [#what-happens-behind-the-scenes]

When ACR is enabled, the booking UI tracks checkout sessions. If a customer provides their email or phone number but does not complete the booking within the configured time window, the system flags the session as abandoned and queues a recovery message.

The recovery message is sent from your company's configured email account, with the location's contact email as the reply-to address.

Measuring Results [#measuring-results]

You can track the effectiveness of abandoned cart recovery in the **Reports** section. The Conversion Analytics report includes:

* **Total Carts** -- how many checkout sessions were started.
* **Converted Carts** -- how many sessions resulted in a completed booking.
* **Cart Conversion Rate** -- the percentage of sessions that converted.
* **Abandoned Cart Value** -- the estimated revenue from sessions that did not convert.

Tips [#tips]

* ACR works best in combination with a well-designed booking confirmation template. Make sure your [email templates](/how-to/marketing/create-email-template) include clear calls to action and booking details.
* The recovery message is more effective when sent within 1-2 hours of abandonment. The sooner you re-engage, the higher the conversion rate.
* Review your [Communication Log](/how-to/marketing/view-communication-log) to verify that ACR messages are being sent and to monitor delivery.
* If you want more control over the timing and content of recovery messages, consider building a custom [workflow](/how-to/workflows) triggered by the booking abandonment event.
