# Manage Membership Plans (/how-to/memberships/manage-membership-plans)

Once you have membership plans, you'll manage them from the plan list under **Resources → Memberships** — editing details, taking plans on and off sale, and retiring ones you no longer offer.

Before you begin [#before-you-begin]

* You need access to the **Resources** area of the dashboard.

Edit a plan [#edit-a-plan]

1. Go to **Resources → Memberships**.
2. Click the plan to open its editor.
3. Update the name, description, price, currency, validity, or benefits.
4. Click **Save**.

Editing a plan's benefits changes what **new** buyers receive. Customers who already purchased keep the benefits they bought — changes are not retroactive.

Enable or disable a plan [#enable-or-disable-a-plan]

Toggle **Enabled** in the plan editor:

* **Enabled** — the plan is on sale and customers can buy it.
* **Disabled** — the plan is hidden from purchase, but existing memberships continue to work.

Disabling is the way to pause a plan (for example, between seasons) without losing it.

Retire a plan [#retire-a-plan]

Use **Delete** on a plan to retire it. This takes the plan off sale but **preserves existing memberships** — anyone who already bought it keeps their benefits and the plan name still resolves on their records. There's no way to permanently erase a plan that has been sold, by design, so historical memberships stay intact.

The plan list [#the-plan-list]

The list shows each plan's **name**, **price**, **validity** (duration or date range), **benefit count**, and **status** (Active or Disabled). Use the search box to find a plan by name.

Tips [#tips]

* **Prefer disabling over deleting** when you might bring a plan back — disabling keeps it ready to re-enable.
* **Watch price-change timing.** A price change applies immediately; customers mid-purchase are re-prompted at the new price.
