Manage Gift Card Settings

How to configure location-level gift card settings in Resytech, including online sales, pricing options, usage restrictions, cross-location redemption, and expiration policies.

Gift card settings are configured per location and control how gift cards are sold, priced, and redeemed. You must enable gift cards and configure these settings before customers can purchase or redeem them.

Before you begin

  • You need access to the Resytech Dashboard.
  • If you have multiple locations and want gift cards to work across them, decide on your cross-location policy before configuring.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, click Gift Cards to open the gift card list page.
  2. Click the Settings button below the "Create Gift Card" button.
  3. Configure each section as described below.
  4. Click Save Changes in the page header when done.

Validation rules

The system enforces these constraints when saving settings:

  • At least one pricing option (preset or custom) must be enabled.
  • If preset amounts are enabled, at least one amount must be listed, and all amounts must be greater than zero.
  • If custom amounts are enabled, both minimum and maximum must be set, both must be greater than zero, and the minimum must be less than the maximum.
  • If cross-location mode is set to "Specific Locations," at least one location must be selected.
  • If an expiration period is set, it must be greater than zero.

What happens next

  • Settings changes take effect immediately for new gift card purchases and creations.
  • Existing gift cards are not retroactively changed. If you update activity restrictions, only newly created gift cards inherit the new restrictions. Previously issued cards keep their original restrictions.
  • If you disable the master toggle, all gift card functionality (purchasing, creating, and redeeming) is paused until you re-enable it.

Tips

  • Start with preset amounts. They reduce friction for customers and ensure consistent gift card values that align with your typical booking prices.
  • Enable "Accept as Payment" to close the loop. Without this, customers can buy gift cards but cannot use them at checkout.
  • Use "Same Location Only" if your locations have different pricing. This prevents a card purchased at a lower-cost location from being used at a premium one.
  • Set an expiration period if required by your local regulations. Some jurisdictions have laws about gift card expiration. Check your local requirements.
  • Combine preset and custom amounts. Offering both gives customers the convenience of quick selection plus the flexibility of entering a specific amount for a precise gift.
