Run a Revenue Report
How to generate a revenue report in Resytech, understand every metric, and use filters to answer specific financial questions.
The Revenue Report gives you a complete financial picture for any date range. Use it to answer questions like "How much revenue did we earn last quarter?", "Which activity generates the most income?", or "How much have we refunded this month?"
Before you begin
- You need access to the Resytech Dashboard with reporting permissions.
- Revenue data comes from confirmed bookings. Draft or pending bookings are excluded from gross/net revenue calculations (but pending bookings do count toward the Future Revenue metric).
Steps
- In the sidebar, expand Reports and click Revenue.
- Set your date range using the Start Date and End Date fields. The report defaults to the last 30 days.
- Choose a Group By option to control the time axis on charts:
| Group By | Best for |
|---|---|
| Daily | Short date ranges (up to ~60 days). Shows day-by-day revenue trends. |
| Weekly | Medium ranges (1-6 months). Smooths out day-to-day fluctuations. |
| Monthly | Long ranges (quarters, full years). High-level trend analysis. |
- Click Apply Filters. The report loads and displays summary cards, charts, and tables.
Understanding the metrics
Summary cards
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gross Revenue | Total grand-total amount from all confirmed bookings in the date range. Includes taxes, fees, and add-ons. |
| Net Revenue | Subtotal minus platform fees. This is closer to your take-home revenue before operating costs. |
| Future Revenue | Sum of grand totals from pending and confirmed bookings with a service date in the future. Not limited to your date range -- always reflects the current pipeline. |
| Average Order Value | Gross revenue divided by total booking count. Useful for tracking whether upselling is working. |
| Total Discounts | Sum of all coupon discounts applied to confirmed bookings. The percentage below shows discounts as a share of gross revenue. |
| Total Refunds | Sum of refund transactions recorded in the date range. Pulled from customer payment records, not booking status. |
| Total Bookings | Count of all bookings (any status) created in the date range. |
Charts
- Revenue Trend -- A line chart plotting revenue over time based on your Group By selection. Look for spikes around weekends, holidays, or marketing campaigns.
- Revenue by Source -- A pie chart showing what share of revenue comes from each booking source (e.g., online checkout, dashboard, POS). If one source dominates, that tells you where customers prefer to book.
Tables
- Top Activities by Revenue -- Ranked list of up to 10 activities showing revenue and booking count. Helps you identify your money-makers.
- Top Equipment by Revenue -- Ranked list of up to 10 equipment items showing revenue and rental count. Useful for deciding where to invest in more inventory.
Filter options
All standard report filters apply to the Revenue Report:
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Start Date / End Date | The date range for booking creation dates. |
| Activity IDs | Limit the report to specific activities. |
| Equipment IDs | Limit the report to bookings that include specific equipment. |
| Sources | Filter by booking source (e.g., "online", "dashboard", "pos"). |
| Statuses | Filter by booking status (e.g., "Confirmed", "Pending", "Cancelled"). |
| Min Amount / Max Amount | Only include bookings within a grand-total dollar range. |
Common questions
How do I see revenue by activity for last quarter? Set the Start Date to the first day of the quarter and the End Date to the last day. Choose Group By Monthly. Scroll to the Top Activities by Revenue table.
Why is Net Revenue lower than Gross Revenue? Net Revenue subtracts platform fees from the subtotal. Taxes, add-ons, and equipment charges are included in gross but platform processing fees are removed from net.
What counts as Future Revenue? Any booking with a service date after right now that is in Confirmed or Pending status. This metric always reflects the current pipeline regardless of your date range filters.
Why do my refund numbers not match cancellations? Refunds are pulled from payment transaction records (actual money returned), while cancellations are a booking status change. A booking can be cancelled without a refund, or a partial refund can be issued without cancelling.
Tips
- Compare month-over-month by running the report twice with consecutive date ranges, or use the Year-over-Year Report for automatic multi-year comparison.
- Watch your discount-to-revenue ratio. If Total Discounts grows faster than Gross Revenue, your promotions may be eroding margins. Cross-reference with the Operations Report coupon effectiveness table.
- Use the Source pie chart to evaluate marketing channels. If online bookings represent 80% of revenue, that signals where to focus your investment.
