Add-Ons & Amenities
Attach optional extras and filterable amenity tags to your equipment.
Add-Ons
Add-ons are optional extras that customers can include with their rental. They are linked to specific equipment items and appear during checkout when a customer selects that equipment.
Examples
- Helmets and safety gear
- Life jackets
- GPS units
- Phone mounts
- Coolers or storage bags
Setting Up Add-Ons
- Navigate to Dashboard > Add-Ons
- Click Add New
- Configure:
- Name and description
- Price — flat fee or per-day
- Linked equipment — which equipment items this add-on applies to
- Image — optional photo
Add-ons appear during checkout when a customer selects the linked equipment.
Add-On Assignment Settings
When you assign an add-on to a piece of equipment, you configure the following settings:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Quantity | Default quantity of this add-on available per assignment |
| Enabled | Toggle to make this add-on active or inactive for the linked equipment |
| Limit | Maximum number of this add-on a customer can select |
| Limit Type | How the limit is applied (see below) |
Limit Types
The Limit Type controls how the add-on quantity limit is enforced:
| Limit Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Per Equipment | The limit applies per unit of equipment rented. If a customer rents 3 kayaks and the helmet limit is 1 per equipment, they can add up to 3 helmets. |
| Per Booking | The limit applies to the entire booking regardless of how many equipment units are rented. A limit of 2 means 2 total for the whole booking. |
| Per Person | The limit applies per guest on the booking. If there are 4 guests and the limit is 1 per person, up to 4 can be added. |
How Add-Ons Work in Bookings
When a booking includes equipment with add-ons:
- Each booked equipment unit tracks its own add-on selections independently
- Add-on quantities are recorded per booking-equipment combination
- Add-on pricing is calculated based on the selected quantity and the add-on's price configuration
Blackout Dates
Block an add-on for specific date ranges without disabling it entirely — for example while units are out for repair or reserved for a private event. This mirrors activity blackout dates.
- Navigate to Dashboard > Add-Ons, select the add-on, and open Settings > Blackout Dates
- Click and drag on the calendar to select the date range
- Configure the blackout:
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Date Range | The start and end date of the blackout period |
| Time Configuration | Block the entire day(s), or only a specific time window |
| Description | An internal note explaining why the add-on is blocked |
| Customer Message | (Optional) Copy shown to customers when the add-on is unavailable — e.g. "Jet skis are out for winter maintenance". Left blank, customers see "This add-on isn't available on this date/time." |
| Scope | Block the entire add-on, or remove only some units of its inventory for the window |
During a blackout, the add-on stays visible at checkout for overlapping times but shows as Unavailable with your customer message (or the generic one) — it cannot be selected. A partial blackout that removes only some units leaves the rest sellable with no message; the message appears only when the blackout leaves nothing to sell.
Blackouts never change existing bookings. If bookings already include the add-on during the window, you are warned at save time but the blackout is still created — follow up on those bookings yourself.
Staff can override blackouts. When a team member adds a blacked-out add-on to a booking from the dashboard, the change is allowed but a warning is shown. Blackouts are only enforced on the customer-facing checkout.
Amenities
Amenities are descriptive tags that help customers filter and compare equipment. Unlike add-ons, amenities have no price and are not selectable -- they describe built-in features of the equipment.
Examples
- Wi-Fi enabled
- Bluetooth speaker
- Built-in cooler
- USB charging port
- Cup holders
Managing Amenities
- Navigate to Dashboard > Amenities
- Create amenity tags with a name and icon
- Assign amenities to individual equipment items
Amenities appear on the equipment card in the checkout, helping customers make informed choices.
Assigning Amenities to Equipment
Amenities are assigned as a list on each equipment item. You can:
- Select multiple amenities from your location's amenity library
- Update the full list of amenities at any time (the entire set is replaced on save)
- The same amenity can be assigned to multiple pieces of equipment

| Customer selects? | Yes -- optional extras during checkout | No -- informational only |
