Configure Equipment Properties
How to add, edit, and manage custom properties on equipment items to display specifications like size, weight, or engine type.
Equipment properties let you display key specifications and attributes on your equipment listings. Properties like "Engine: 150HP", "Length: 12ft", or "Color: Red" help customers understand exactly what they are renting. Featured properties are shown prominently in the equipment header and card views.
When to use properties
- You want to display technical specifications (horsepower, length, weight).
- You want to highlight differentiating features (color, model year, brand).
- You need customers to distinguish between similar equipment items.
Add a property
- In the sidebar, click Equipment, then select the equipment item.
- Navigate to the Properties section on the equipment detail page.
- Click Create Property. A modal dialog opens.
- Fill in the fields:

| Property Name | Yes | The label shown to customers (e.g., "Engine", "Length", "Color"). Max 50 characters. Must be unique per equipment item. |
| Property Value | Yes | The value displayed next to the name (e.g., "150HP", "12ft", "Red"). Max 50 characters. |
| Featured | No | When checked, this property is displayed prominently in the equipment header area and on listing cards. Use this for the most important specs customers care about. |
| Description | No | An optional longer explanation of the property. Max 1,000 characters. |
| Icon Type | Yes | How the property icon is displayed. Options: |
Icon type options
| Icon Type | Description |
|---|---|
| No Icon | No icon is displayed. The property shows only its name and value. |
| Font Awesome Icon | Choose from the built-in icon library. After selecting this option, click Select Icon to browse and pick an icon. |
| Upload Image | Upload a custom image as the icon. (Coming soon.) |
- Click Create Property.
Edit a property
- Navigate to the equipment's Properties section.
- Click the property card you want to edit.
- Update any fields in the modal.
- Click Save Changes.
You can update the name, value, description, icon, and featured status at any time.
Delete a property
- Navigate to the equipment's Properties section.
- On the property card, click the red X button in the top-right corner.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
Tips
- Featured properties stand out. They are marked with a star icon on property cards and are displayed in prominent positions. Use this for the 2-3 specs that matter most to customers (e.g., horsepower and seating capacity for a jet ski).
- Properties are display-only. They do not affect scheduling, pricing, or availability. They are purely informational for customers.
- Properties are sorted alphabetically by name in the equipment detail view.
- Keep values concise. Since property cards have limited space, use short values like "150HP" rather than "150 Horsepower".
